Charcoal-Grill & Salad Bar Keisuke is the 19th store under the Keisuke Group, if this isn’t impressive enough, i dont know what is. In Japanese cuisine, sumiyaki (charcoal-grill) refers to a method of cooking, similar to barbecue, in which food items are slow-grilled over hot charcoal.
Charcoal-Grill & Salad Bar Keisuke officially launches in Singapore on Monday, 1 April 2019 and is a 33-seater outlet. What drew me in was the Free Flow Salad Bar, offering a wide selection of veg, carbs, and surprisingly even dessert…P.S. Bonus points! I loved the Tantan Men and coleslaw best.
The menu at Charcoal-Grill & Salad Bar Keisuke is focused on traditional fish dishes enjoyed by the Japanese – Mackerel, Salmon, Yellow Tail and Black Cod fish. We chose the Mackerel and Cod Fish in Teriyaki Sauce. Diners can look forward to an authentic style of Japanese gozen (set meal) which comes with miso soup and onsen egg. A small iron pot with freshly cooked rice is included too.

Food that is cooked over charcoal seals in the moisture and flavour, giving consistently tender and succulent results. Traditional Japanese chefs tend to favour binchō-tan (備長炭) or Japanese white charcoal as it burns cleanly with a high steady heat. Ahhh, so this is why you can be assured of a super juicy and melt-in-your-mouth cod fish, just like what i enjoyed.
Lastly, Keisuke has 3 interesting drinks – Wasabi Ginger Ale, Sakura Cola, and Green Tea Cola. Loved the Green Tea Cola best!
Time to head down to Keisuke @ Payar Lebar Square this weekend! Seems like it’s gona be packed though, so hurry down!
