Usher in the Year of Pig at Putien!

This one needs no introduction. Putien has won numerous dining and business awards – from Michelin Guide Singapore 2016 & 2017 & 2018 Michelin 1 Star Restaurant Award (Kitchener Road Outlet), we are all amazed about the dining experience there.

Prosperity Yu Sheng (from $29.8 ++)

Of course, no CNY goes by without the iconic Yusheng right? With premium seafood and specially concocted Yu Sheng sauce, we had a ball of time tossing and savoring every bit of this colorful mess! Topped with some light and crispy seaweed, it really hit the note for me.
Stir-fried Yam ($13.9)

The next dish is not unique to CNY period, but you will still see it on every dining table! Using only the middle and best portion of the premium yam, these yam cubes are then fried to a crisp golden exterior while retaining light fluffiness within. Most zhi-char stalls who make it are often come out very dry, but not Putien.

Steamed Soon Hock

Upgrade from your usual seabass, and go for the Soon Hock this CNY! Delicate pieces that are fall-of-the-bone, and a light sauce just to carry that freshness along – i thoroughly enjoyed every mouthful!

Putien Style Pork Ribs

Slightly sweet and sour, with a tinge of orange tangy-ness, sink your teeth into this mouth-watering and succulent goodness. Very apt since it’s the year of Pig, isn’t it! 😉

Longevity Noodles

My all-time favorite dish – and essentially what i remember Putien by! Their silky soft noodles and thick broth will certainly be my go-to dish if i ever feel homesick when overseas for an extended period of time. It’s a one kind of a heartwarming dish!

On another note, word goes that their Beehoon undergoes a very tedious process – manually dried under the sun at the crack of dawn to retain its moisture and boast a fine and silky texture without being brittle. I wonder if that applies to the rest of their noodle types as well 😮

Conpoy with White Mushroom and Broccoli

If like me, you have no idea what conpoy is – fret not. It’s a type of dried scallop that lifts the whole dish up with sweetness and savoury notes. Just give me a bowl of rice and this, and i’ll be a happy man.

“Pot of Goodies” – Abalone

Well – i saved the best for the last to reward you loyal readers out there! The iconic “Peng Cai” that tastes as good as it looks. Putien’s “Pot of Goodies” includes top-grade ingredients such as sea cucumber, Putien dried clams, and the rest individually cooked, then carefully layered in a pot and simmered in stock for 8 hours before serving.

A pot of goodness. To a cohesive and prosperous 2019!
