Extravagance at Spice World Hot Pot (香天下火锅)

Spice World Hot Pot (香天下火锅) is famed for their Hello Kitty and Teddy Bear spicy butter sculptures for their Mala Broth Hotpot and Wagyu Beef cladded Barbie Doll. The last time we got the Hello Kitty shaped spicy butter, this time round we got the Teddy Bear one. Readers can use the character that they prefer and take as many photos as it only melts when hot broth are added.

Premium Barbie Australian Wagyu Beef Slices [$38.90]

The meat was extremely tender and instantly melts in your mouth after cooking in the Mala broth for just under 15 seconds.

Yinyang Two-Flavour Broth [$22.90]

We chose 2 different broths, Mala and Mushroom. Mala is famous here so it is a must have as one of the broths. The Mushroom broth has many different types of mushrooms that enriches the soup as it boils overtime during the meal.

One Metre-Long Mutton Slices [$28.90]

This is a must order, the mutton is thin sliced and tender. It is unable to match up to the Wagyu Beef slices but it is already very good.

Deep Fried Pork Slices [$12.90]

Seasoned lightly with 5 spices and fried till crispy. A perfect snack while awaiting for our meats to arrive and nicely cooked.

Frog [$14.90]

Fresh and succulent frog meat that absorbs the Mala taste well. Besides the frog meat, there are also many other dishes inside such as mushroom, lotus and etc.

Pork and Mushroom Mixed Balls [$10.90]

It is all made in-house and can seen obviously from the uneven shape of the balls. After eating their different kind of balls, they are fresh, springy and flavourful.

The Shrimp Paste [$18.90]

This time they have the shrimp paste contained in “vase” that has been broken by a figurine with an axe to release a boy that was trapped in it. It depicts the story of 司马光, a Chinese story in textbooks in China. Spice World has the creativity to constantly come up with new items to attract our attention. The 3 bamboo strips of shrimp paste has roe all over can be added to the broth bit by bit accordingly. It is very springy and has a strong shrimp taste.

King Bamboo Shoot Tips [$18.90]

The next few dishes are internal organs that was favoured by the table. Personally, I do not eat internal organs so I have no reviews on them except that they do look delicious.

Pig’s Kidney [$9.90]

The server will beat the egg for you and coat the kidney generously with the egg before placing it into the broth.

Beef Tripe [$15.90]

Some might not appreciate the taste of beef tripe but if you’re a fan, you might just like it!

Duck Gizzard [$14.90]

Spice World has impeccable service, making us feel at home wherever we visit them. The variety of sauces that they have is one of the most extensive for hotpot. Some of the sauces that you should try are mushroom, sichuan spicy and spicy sauce.
