Northeastern Thai / Isaan Cuisine can now be found at Un-Yang-Kor-Dai

Un-Yang-Kor-Dai is Singapore’s first-ever community restaurant from Khao Yai, Thailand. I have never been to Khao Yai myself and i’m so glad i can personally try these northeastern Thai / Isaan dishes. With the mission to give back to the community, this concept is launched by founder, Panchana Vatanasathien, so thatindividuals from various backgrounds can come together for the love of food and culinary.

Som Tam (Thai Papaya Salad) with fresh prawns — this one here comes from Isaan (yes), super refreshing albeit slightly spicy for me to take it. It comes with succulent prawns, good for those who like seafood. That little basket behind is actually Khao Niew Dun which is Glutinous Brown Rice, a staple in Isaan. I love the handcrafted basket made from bamboo and palm!

Larb Stick — like a spring roll is filled with spicy minced pork. I love how crispy it is and goes well with the thai sweet and spicy sauce.

Kai Yang Sa-moon Prai PenLaos (Signature grilled chicken) — this is a recipe from Thailand using spring chicken, marinated with a mix of white pepper corn and fresh coriander for three days! This dish is available in half and whole chickens. Then you dip it into this Isaan Spicy dipping sauce made out of a trio of tamarind sauce, cilantro and chili powder. They have 3 unique sauces which includes this spicy sauce, a special spicy sauce and a sweet and spicy sauce.

Kor Moo Yang (Grilled pork neck) — super tender, flavourful and we had seconds. No doubt one of the more tender grilled pork necks around.

Lla Ka-Pomg Tod Num Pla (Deep-fried whole sea bass with premium fish sauce & mango salad) — this is so good, i usually avoid fish because of its bones but these are deboned (yay) and also crispy! It’s one of my favourites. Remember to enjoy it with the mango salad that comes with it.

Kung Mang Korn Phad Kai Kem (Stir fried lobster with Salted egg sauce) — seafood is normally not present in their cuisine but it is included to suit the tastebuds of Singapore. The sauce of this dish is so good and flavourful i actually really love the mushrooms and salted egg. Perfectly egg-ecuted!
