Unagiya Ichinoji, the new kid on the block, passed with flying colours. The fresh and tender eel meat was encased with a smoky, charred skin with the right level of crisp. With man-man’s unagi going viral, comparisons are bound to happen. And personally – i find myself actually liking Unagiya’s more! Overall, it just had a larger tick over all the right boxes.
All said and done, this post is still dedicated to Unagiya’s limited Autumn offerings! With a beautiful medley of seafood, the Autumn Seafood Hitsumabushi boasts snow crab in sweet vinegar, mackerel, tiger prawn, Hokkaido scallop on a bed of boiled baby sardines and Hokkaido rice. And unagi, of course. It’s a wholesome seafood feast that simply brightens up your day or week!
The Autumn Salmon Seiro Mushi comes in a traditional bamboo steamer – served with glistening Ikura pearls, wild shimeji mushrooms, fresh scallops, salmon and snow pea. As salmon fish surfaces the sea more during winter and mushrooms are picked in autumn, the dish truly brings out the seasonal freshness of the ingredients.
Overall, it’s definitely a place for those who love unagi, pop by for some quality unagi!
